The Customer

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust (Mid Yorks) provide care for over half a million people every year in homes, the community and across their three hospital sites. The Trust was facing problems with their video conferencing estate, due to their aging and unsupported audio-visual equipment that needed a complete overhaul. Gareth Cinnamon, Digital Programme Manager at Mid Yorks, shared why the Trust needed to refresh their video conferencing estate: “We needed to provide a better and more secure experience for our multi-disciplinary team (MDT) users as they were frustrated with the existing set up. Also, we had no support agreement for the existing equipment and thus relied on inhouse support.”

The Solution

Mid Yorks provided Involve with the following brief for the project:

Improved quality of video and sound in MDT & boardroom meetings

Improved user experience within the lecture theatre environment

A solution that interacts with Microsoft Teams

A solution that works with Medio.Link

Based on this brief, Involve undertook an extensive project to upgrade the meeting spaces across their three sites. The project spanned to 29 rooms including two education centres, two lecture theatres and specialist MDT rooms. All meeting spaces work with Microsoft Teams and have the added benefit of bring-your-own-device connectivity.

Speaking of the project, Gareth says, “Involve provided brilliant onsite presence when needed, with engineers who were keen to help at any time of the day or night.”

The Result

“Whilst this has been a difficult project to implement, Involve have been happy to participate in discussions with stakeholders and offer training where necessary,” says Gareth. “Each of our requirements for this project were met by Involve. Our MDT meetings now run much smoother, which has been confirmed by clinicians onsite and those attending off site, and having available support from Involve is very reassuring.”
